What kind of printing do you do?
At our Printshop in Victoria, BC, we use a patented process that includes direct-to-garment printing with a full-spectrum CMYK + White colour process ink system. If you didn’t get all that, it means we can print digital images right onto canvas in the colour spectrum Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black (the same as your printer at home). We can print on light or dark canvas, and this type of printing won’t crack or peel and is water-resistant!
What parts of the shoe can you print on?
We can print all over the canvas uppers on a shoe. So, the sides and tongue on a high top or low top. The only area of canvas that's not printable is the little strip at the back of the shoe. We can't customize anything that isn’t canvas, so the eyelets, rubber outsoles, toe cap, and circular logo patch will remain the same. You can get just one side (simple logo design) printed, all-over printed, (all over design), or each shoe with a fully different design (complex design). Usually, we print on white or black canvas, but we can print on any colour if it works with your creative vision!
What kind of image can I get printed?
You can get anything you can dream up (within reason) printed on a pair of shoes! Your beloved pet? Your favourite movie character? A company logo? A collage of your own face? Sure! Once you decide, you can send us an image that is a minimum original size of 600x600 pixels in JPG, PNG, EPS, or PDF format. For best results, try and find the biggest resolution possible. Some browsers have trouble processing large files, so if you experience the "spinning wheel of death", please email your images in with a file-sharing link (Dropbox, Wetransfer, Google Drive).
What’s the difference between a Baggins Original and a custom order?
Feeling overwhelmed at the prospect of choosing anything you want on a pair of shoes? We have a whole selection of fun and funky Baggins Original designs to choose from! Not to brag but they’re all pretty cool, especially our artist collaboration collection. If you want to get a bit more personal, a custom order is a unique image, graphic, or photo that you send in. For a stellar shoe, our in-house graphic designers will help you get the design exactly right.
How long does it take?
On average the whole process takes on average 7-10 business days plus shipping time, which starts on the day you approve your design. During peak season (like Christmas), it can go up to 12-15 business days. If you are in a rush, please reach out to us. We pride ourselves on putting care into every pair of shoes we print. Every custom order is designed to work with your ideas and our printing process, then test printed for placement, printed, heat pressed, and hand cleaned and packaged.
Can I get a discount on a bulk order?
Yes, you can! Want to get custom kicks for your whole company, or your wedding party, or your 12-piece ragtime jazz band? You can get a corporate or bulk order at a discounted rate if you order 10 or more shoes. The price per pair drops according to how many you order, and the starting price depends on the type of shoe and the complexity of the design. We’ve worked with many familiar brands before, and we’d love to work with you. Feel free to email us for a quote.
What if I’m not sure?
As you might imagine, since custom shoes are made-to-order they are non-refundable once you approve your design. Keep in mind, nothing gets printed until you give the go-ahead! Our graphic designers send you a mock-up of the design to approve. It is important to get your size right though! So if you’re unfamiliar with how Chucks fit, we recommend you try some on at our store, or somewhere near you!
