Brimming full of fun concepts, Devin first caught our attention back in 2016 with his passion for Converse. We were instantly hooked on his feed full of clever photos which featured one of our favourite brands. Shot after shot, he brought forth original ideas that we wanted to be apart of. With his love affair with Converse showing no signs of slowing down, we decided it was time to bring the King of Converse on to the team. After that, we set him up with some custom kicks and let him loose to become our first brand ambassador!

KingofCoverse

Introduce yourself:

Hi, my name is Devin Caron, I’m a photographer and sneaker enthusiast. I love art, travel, and designing unique Chuck Taylors. My dream is to be a world class photographer one day.

How would you describe your personal style?

My personal style is, skinny jeans, graphic tees, and a flashy pair of Chucks, or a nice suit with Chucks to match my shirt or tie. I love every excuse I get to dress up.

Can you tell us about your first pair of Converse? How many Chucks do you currently own?

I got my first pair of Converse in 2012, they were classic black and white high tops. Two weeks later my best friend and I decided to  swap right shoes so we each wore one black, and one white shoe.  After about a year I replaced my shoe laces with custom glow in the dark/glow in the sun ones, and painted the soles with glow in the dark paint, I eventually decided to spray paint them with chalkboard paint so my friends can leave their mark on the pair of Chucks that started my obsession. I still have them on my wall.

In all I probably own more than 450 pairs, including the ones I’ve tragically parted ways with, or left behind on purpose to leave my mark. I’ve lost count long ago.

What’s your favourite thing to do in your hometown/city?

I love living near the mountains, its fun to get out and explore nature and just drive. There are so many cool historical sights and antique shops up in the Blue Ridge Mountains as well.

We loooooove good tunes, can you tell us what you’ve been listening to lately? Any favourite tracks?

I love music so it’s a hard choice. My favorite local artist is probably Abe Parker, he is an amazing artist who is as down to earth as it gets, I have to say Matador or Dance with Me are my favorites of his. He always gets me to stop what I’m doing, and just jam out. He is always playing with someone different so it’s a new vibe every time. If I had to pick a band I’d say Green Day, Arctic Monkeys, or anything punk rock. Something I can blast as I fly down the mountain roads with the wind in my hair.

Baggins Custom Kicks

Can you talk us through your customized pair of kicks?

I love my custom kicks. I had them made for my moms birthday from this massive, as big as my car, extremely beautiful, vibrant, colorful piece she painted in 2014, so I could share her art with the world. She is a huge inspiration to me.

What is the craziest/best thing that has ever happened to you in a pair of Chucks?

I think the craziest thing to happen to me in my Converse, was when I was in going through TSA in the Atlanta airport. A sweet young girl approached me as I was taking off my shoes, she asked if I was the King of Converse and then asked me to sign her shoes! It felt great knowing I’m impacting people by doing what I love, really an eye opening moment for me.

King of Converse Glow in the dark

Are there any upcoming projects or events you are working on that we should know about?

I’m full of ideas! I have a journal full of ideas for some wild Converse including light up chucks, glow in the dark, and so much more, I’m always thinking of new ideas. (Even some unrelated to shoes, occasionally.)

King of Converse end of the world

Finally, if you had to pick one shoe to wear for the rest of your life, what would it be?

That’s the hardest decision of my life, I couldn’t decide between my 2012 End of the World by Alan Gonzalez, or my custom pair from Baggins, because they are both limited edition pairs. My 2012’s mean a lot since I spent a lot of time exploring San Francisco with my grandma, but I love my custom Baggins because they are inspired by my moms paintings. Her painting is one of my most prized possessions. Those memories make it so hard to chose. (I’ll probably be buried with both pair, honestly.)
