Although Converse is a giant company, it has found many unique ways to give back over the years. The most recent being the establishment of its worldwide Rubber Track studios that provide professional spaces, instruments and mixing equipment to musicians and bands looking for studio time.
These pop-up studios are 100% free for the musicians and are appearing in cities like New York, Boston, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Montreal and São Paulo.
By helping out future musicians, Converse is paying homage to the many musicians that helped make the shoes famous throughout the decades. Think Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix, The Ramones, Bruno Mars and Taylor Swift. (When are we ever going to see those names in the same sentence ever again?!)
Converse also organized the Converse 1HUND(RED) campaign where it had 100 celebrities and artists design a shoe to be auctioned off in support of the (RED) campaign that fights for global HIV awareness.
Any company that finds these special ways to support causes dear to their heart finds a special place in ours.
Converse Is Resilient
Once on the verge of bankruptcy in 2001 due to rising competition and other factors, the brand sprung back in a major way when Nike rescued it in 2003, and since their peak in the ’80s, the classic sneakers have experienced a resurgence, having managed to hold on to their distinctive rubber soles, smooth rounded tops and wrap-around strip style features that made them famous.
Many companies faced with bankruptcy fade out quietly, but Converse held on when times were tough and managed to flourish during those tough times, demonstrating it is a resilient brand that has spanned generations of fans.
Converse Continues to Innovate
From their big break in 1908 as the producers of rubber galoshes to the makers of the iconic Chuck Taylor All Star shoe, Converse keeps evolving, providing us with a whack of options.
