THE ART OF FRANCIS DICK
It’s been an honour to work with Francis Dick over the years, and it's always such a thrill to see each fresh design. From the mythical Phoenix, to the symbolic Wolf, the art of Francis Dick draws power from mother-nature and the supernatural. Francis’ latest design has the West Coast as its muse with the raven, orca and moon at its centre. Order The Art of Francis Dick Fish and Bird design, today!

CAN YOU TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF?
I am from Kwakwaka’wakw nation, the communities of Alert Bay, BC and Kingcome Inlet. I have been creating art since 1985. I work in metals, wood, glass and acrylic on canvas. I have exhibited in China, Europe, United Arab Emirates, and United States.
HOW DID YOU START CREATING ART?
I started creating in 1985 after the passing of my grandmother. I wanted to create a design that honored her lineage. My first painting, Kawadelekala, was made into a limited edition serigraph.
CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT THE SPACE WHERE YOU CREATE? WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
I create in the same space I live. I love my space, I live in the heart of the city. Beauty inspires me, beauty in nature and beauty in people. Stories that are difficult to tell inspire me. To create something beautiful out of a dark experience is also a beautiful experience.
WHAT MADE YOU PURSUE THIS PROJECT WITH BAGGINS?
I went to Baggins one fine day to get my Deb Rhymer portrait printed on Converse hi tops. It turned out the owner, knows Deb Rhymer who is one of my favourite musicians and friend. Glen, the owner asked if I would be interested in submitting some of my work to be printed on Baggins custom shoes. I think that it is such a creative, brilliant and inspiring business! I am happy to be a part of it.
