Inevitably, all of this excitement leads to the purchasing of new wardrobe staples, which almost always means new shoes. Maybe even a few new pairs. Shoe shopping—it’s yet another reason to get excited about spring!

Whether your old Chucks are looking a little worn from the winter, or you’re just looking to spruce up your Converse collection for spring 2016, Baggins has got you covered with the New Converse Chuck Taylor IIs. (Please note that we cannot ship the Chuck II to the USA at this time.)

First up, we must show off these show-stopping Converse Chuck Taylor II Low Top Sodalite Blues:

With the Sodalites, we are pleased to be seeing a spring shoe release that isn’t too floral, isn’t too pastel, and isn’t too whimsical. Although those things are all great too, for a certain time and place, sometimes the day just demands plain, colourful fun.

The brightly coloured Converse Chuck Taylor II Low Top Salsa Red/Whites have also sent the pastels packin’ this spring.

They’re classic red, so it almost feels like you’ve seen these before… but you haven’t. Not all red wines taste the same, right? It’s sort of like that.

You also aren’t likely to have seen a pair known as the Volt until today. The Converse Chuck Taylor II Hi Top Volt Green is a special quick-strike only available in small quantities to a limited number of stores:

They are so bright, onlookers will be drawn to them like flies are to a sticky trap. Or tourists are to Victoria’s waterfront.

This heavy-duty level of attraction is less true for the more subdued releases from Converse. The monochromatic beauts below are an ideal way to usher in spring, but without being too colourful:

We are digging the way the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star II Hi Top Parchment/Navy/White turned out:

The warm, off-white, reinforced canvas of these sturdy sneakers is reminiscent of Chucks past and pair immaculately with the upgraded features that define the Chuck IIs (we’ll get to those in a sec).

These simplistic sneaks are also available as low tops, a la the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star II Low Tops Parchment/Navy/White.

We’re also obsessing over the versatility of the Converse Chuck Taylor II Hi Top Thunder/White:

Which are also available as Low Tops. Check out the Converse Chuck Taylor II Low Top Thunder/White:

 So, What Makes a Chuck II a Chuck II?

Comfort was the name of the game when it came to revamping the classic Chuck Taylor All Stars. With the Chuck II line, Converse has taken its iconic designs the world loves and stands behind (in?), and made them even better by giving them a comfort boost in the form of premium features, which include

* Nike Lunarlon liners for better arch support
* A soft, micro-suede lining
* A padded, non-slip tongue
* A premium tensile fabric exterior

These added features allow you to enjoy your Chucks for longer periods of time. You can pull off-shift work in them, you can Dance with the Stars with them, you could probably even spend a day wandering downtown Victoria in them without feeling at all achey afterwards.

Here’s a look at the new black Chuck Taylor IIs, for good measure: The Chuck Taylor II Hi Top and the Chuck Taylor Low Top.

Printed Chuck Taylor IIs

Aside from the solo-coloured kicks above, Chuck IIs also come in printed versions. We especially love the Converse Chuck Taylor II Hi Top Futura Black/Camo/Egret that pay homage to the works of street artist Futura.

These special edition Chucks feature weatherized rubber uppers and come with interchangeable Velcro All-Star patches, reflective laces, and a second set of custom Lunarlon insoles. (While quantities last!)

Sizing Considerations

The Chuck Taylor II fits more true to size than his older brother, so we recommend ordering the size you regularly wear in most other brands, or half a size larger than your size of classic Chuck Taylor All Stars. If you’re unsure, come on down to our store in downtown Victoria and we’ll size you up.
